Cosmetics & Community Creator

Last updated: September 17, 2026

SourceBoard allows users to personalize profiles and interactions with cosmetics such as frames, themes, effects, emotes, and related visual items.

SourceBoard may also provide a Community Cosmetic Creator or submission process for user-created cosmetic proposals.

1. Cosmetic categories

Cosmetics may include:

  • avatar frames;
  • profile effects;
  • profile themes;
  • emotes;
  • animated decorations;
  • badges;
  • visual overlays; and
  • other presentation features.

2. Cosmetic ownership

Obtaining a cosmetic generally grants an entitlement to use it within SourceBoard.

It does not transfer ownership of SourceBoard software, branding, or any underlying third-party intellectual property.

3. Accessibility and performance

SourceBoard may adjust or limit animation, visual intensity, layering, or effects to:

  • respect reduced-motion preferences;
  • protect readability;
  • improve device performance;
  • prevent visual obstruction;
  • reduce flashing or accessibility risks; or
  • maintain consistent presentation.

4. Community submissions

Users may be able to submit cosmetic ideas or assets for review.

A submission does not guarantee:

  • approval;
  • publication;
  • sale;
  • point rewards;
  • payment;
  • exclusivity;
  • permanent availability; or
  • attribution in a particular format.

5. Rights required

You may submit only material you have the right to submit.

Do not submit:

  • stolen artwork;
  • copyrighted characters without permission where permission is required;
  • logos you are not authorized to commercialize or distribute;
  • copied cosmetics from other platforms;
  • unauthorized celebrity likenesses;
  • malicious or deceptive assets; or
  • content that violates SourceBoard policies.

6. Review criteria

SourceBoard may consider:

  • originality;
  • rights clearance;
  • technical suitability;
  • visual quality;
  • accessibility;
  • moderation risk;
  • performance;
  • compatibility;
  • user safety; and
  • fit with the product.

7. Modifications

SourceBoard may request or make presentation-related changes needed for compatibility or safety.

Material changes to a creator's artistic work should, where practical, preserve the creator's intended design or be communicated through the submission process.

8. Attribution

SourceBoard may display creator attribution for approved community cosmetics where supported.

Attribution format may change with interface design.

9. Removal

A community cosmetic may be disabled or removed if:

  • it infringes rights;
  • it violates policy;
  • it creates security or performance problems;
  • it becomes incompatible;
  • it is associated with fraud;
  • a valid legal request requires action; or
  • another serious issue arises.

10. Store treatment

Approved community cosmetics may be free, point-based, achievement-based, promotional, or otherwise distributed according to SourceBoard's current Store rules.

11. No automatic compensation

Unless SourceBoard publishes separate creator terms or enters a separate agreement, submitting a cosmetic does not create a right to money, royalties, revenue share, or employment.

12. Creator responsibility

Creators remain responsible for the originality and rights status of their submissions.

SourceBoard approval is not a legal certification that no third-party rights exist.
